Heath Hamrick

Heath Hamrick was born in Pasadena, Texas, into a third generation coaching and teaching family. He grew up on the sidelines and has never seen a high school game from the grandstands, preferring to stand with the team, as he did as a player and then as a coach.
He graduated from Trinity University with a degree in political science and a love for history, old movies, and making films. From 2000 to 2004 he sponsored the fledging Classical Studies Film Program while creating four feature films: Promethus Bound, Alcestiad, Ides, and Rubicon. He is the co-author of Coaching the Spread Bone Offense: Spread the field (Coaches Choice, 2006), Coaching the Five-Wide Attack: the Tyger Offense (Coaches Choice, 2007), Play Like He Would: A True Story, and the article "Spreading the Bone: The Spread Bone's Short Trap Series" in the March issue of American Football Monthly. He has been the recipient of an award in playwrighting in the state of Texas for two consecutive years, a Teaching Excellence Grant from Lockheed Martin, and was also named the inaugural Hustler of the Year award winner for the Trinity University Tigers. He is currently working on a nonfiction book based on his curriculum tentatively titled Lots of Dead Guys: Sex, Lies, and History That Does Not Suck.
He is happily married to his wife, Keri, and now teaches History, Geography, and Technology at Crosstimbers Academy in Weatherford, Texas.

Classroom Expectations:

Classroom Policy:

In this class we will be exploring the scope of the world events from the time of the earliest humans up throught the present day. The purpose of this course is to provide a general, working understanding of the events and timeline of world history, and to gain an insight as to why such knowledge is necessary.

The wisdom of history is in the generalities: the cause and effect, the broad strokes of action and reaction.

The joy of history is in the details: the battles won and lost by the most insignificant decisions, the nations founded by and torn apart by the most trivial of political maneuvers.

My classroom operates on the Socratic Method; basically, using your reading, information is imparted by informed discussion between teacher and student. To this end, a large part of your grade is a weekly participation grade.
